I was born in Worcester, MA way the heck back in 1952. I always loved music. I remember flipping out over Ricky Nelson ( WHO? ) He was the youngest brother on Ozzie and Harriet ( WHO? ) Well anyhow, every week when Ozzie and Harriet were on and Ricky sang a song at the end of the show, I'd grab my mothers broomstick and sing along with him and play the broomstick. What the hell did I know, I was only 8 or 9. So, I guess that broomstick was the start of my musical career. Now, I never realized that broomsticks could talk, but I thank my mother for being as abstract as she was to hear what I was saying to her through the broomstick. Back in those days they used to have music programs in grammar school, my mother rented a guitar and I was lucky enough to take guitar lessons at Dartmouth St. School. Of course they weren't really anything major but it gave me the basics, and I was able to develop my own style from there. Time went by and when I was 13, I began to teach one of my grammar school friends ( Buddy Yess ) how to play guitar. WoW! Before we knew it we were in junior high and forming a band with other guys from the neighborhood. We called ourselves " The Deuces Wild ". Buddy Yess on rythmn guitar, Frank Chestnut or Bass guitar, Ernie Abdelnour on drums, John O'Connor lead vocals, and finally myself Tom Beaudreau on lead guitar. We were immensly popular in those days playing a variety of songs by the most popular bands of that time....The Young Rascals, Spencer Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, the list goes on and on. We had the time of our lives. Well, that got me hooked on music and the band thing, but of course like all good things, it didn't last forever. I was lucky enough to experience that for 2 years. I had played in several other bands in the Worcester area through the late 60's and early 70's. Then came Bugs Mahoney.....he was one our groupies when I played in The Black Apple Band. He bugged me to teach him how to play guitar and finally I did. By doing so we became best friends and soulmates. And not to long after that we formed the duo of " Tom and Bugs ". We played a great variety of tunes from The Eagles, to Simon and Garfunkel, Jim Croce, to Don McClean....( Bye Bye Miss American Pie ) playing in a number of clubs ( I'll rephrase that....bars ) throughout the Worcester area. That came to an end when Bugs discovered girls. I then played solo for a while and in 1977 I was lucky to get involved with Bob Lewis who was a local club Discjockey, he took me under his wing and the next thing I knew I was a Discjockey for a number of clubs throughout Worcester and beyond. That ended when I got married and it was time to raise a family. Boy did we raise them. Deryk is a guitarist for the band Apathetiq out of Boston and he is 6'6", and Darin is 6'9" and they are both bigger than me. I'm a shrimp at 6'4". After the marriage came divorce and I was depressed for a while but met Ann who helped me out of my depression, Ann and I just celebrated our 10th anniversary. No, we're not married but we've been together for 10 years. Ann encouraged me to start playing music again and helped me to regain my confidence. Before I knew it I was playing out at coffeehouses, then I started hosting Open Mics. I’m currently working on a Acoustic Rock trio with Monica Hamilton and Jess Wilke. Monica, and I share the lead vocals and we all provide incredible harmonies. Look out world! Monica Jess and I have named the band Ordinary Heart Check out our website http://www.ordinaryheart.com I’ve also started another music series…..Music In The Atrium. Every other Thursday from 5:00pm—7:00pm in The Atrium at St. Vincent Hospital, 123 Summer Street, Worcester, MA 01608 Featuring 2 local performers as well as myself filling the Atrium with sound.
